Did We Predict the Super Bowl?
Here’s an interesting fact we found about the NFL: Football teams that wear white jerseys are 29-18 in Super Bowl games.
Here’s an additional supporting fact: Most recently, the teams wearing the white jerseys have won eight of the nine last Super Bowls.
And who wore white last Sunday? The Patriots.
It looks like we can change that last fact to nine of the last ten Super Bowl winner’s have worn white jerseys. Congratulations to the New England Patriots!
Obviously the color of a football team’s jersey does not predict the outcome of a game, but it was fun to play along!
Uniforms do not have magical powers that can change the outcome of a game, but they do have a certain power among the teams and the fans. When you think of a team’s jersey, you probably think they are there so we can tell the teams apart as the players run around on the field. That’s sort of true, but in reality they play a much stronger role. Uniforms create a sense of pride and unity among the athletes. When an athlete gets drafted to a team, one of the first things they are presented with is their jersey. It’s a symbol of the team, the organization, and the game. Even the fans feel a strong sense of pride when they wear their favorite athlete’s jersey. You saw it all over the stand during the Super Bowl.
